Wine Country Family Reunion

Updated: Jan 9

It couldn't have been a more beautiful day, with the sun dancing on the vines and rolling hills for a backdrop for this Sonoma family reunion. Family gathered for an afternoon grilling and playing on the lawn. A gorgeous family, inside and out.

This session took place in wine country where this family felt like themselves. Not dressed up versions of themselves — just who they are when they have a little space, good light, and no reason to rush.

There was no agenda beyond being together for a few hours. We walked. We sat. A grandmother watching her granddaughter tumble through the grass.A couple standing side by side, not posing, just pausing.A child mid-motion, halfway between laughing and concentrating.

Those are the moments I wait for. Not the ones that happen on cue — the ones that happen when people forget they’re being photographed.

Wine country works well for this kind of session because it doesn’t compete for attention. The landscape doesn’t ask families to perform. The light does what it needs to do without drama. Everything feels unforced, which is exactly how I want the experience to feel.
