Amy & Archie’s Redwood Wedding at Roberts Regional Park

Updated: Nov 22

Under the towering redwoods of Roberts Regional Park in Oakland, Amy and Archie planned a celebration that reflected exactly who they are—joyful, down-to-earth, and wonderfully connected to the people they love. Their redwood wedding felt more like the best summer gathering you have ever attended, wrapped in sunlight and the scent of the forest.

Their ceremony took place beneath a natural cathedral of trees, where guests stood in a soft circle while the couple read the vows they had written for each other. Baby’s breath lined the aisle in simple rows, catching the late-morning sun as it filtered through the branches.

After a few quiet moments together, the newlyweds joined everyone at picnic tables scattered with wildflowers. Lunch was a relaxed BBQ feast, followed by an enthusiastic, all-ages game of kickball—yes, including some impressive kicks from the bride in her gown and high-tops.

In keeping with the laid-back spirit of the day, Amy wore flowers in her hair in place of a veil, and her sneakers made it easy to run, dance, and celebrate from start to finish. The day stretched into an evening of music under the trees, surrounded by warmth, laughter, and easy, genuine joy.

As their photographer, I loved capturing the movement and spontaneity—sunlight shifting across the redwoods, kids racing through the picnic grounds, and the quiet tenderness between Amy and Archie amid the celebration. It was heartfelt, beautifully unhurried, and completely them.
